Volunteering Dos and Don’ts:
Be and remain sober from any
illegal substances during the duration of your shift
Dos:
- Do share your personal experiences if
you are comfortable doing so
- Do render aid to the extent you deem
it necessary and have the related expertise
- Do call 911 if you believe someone’s
life is in danger, regardless of club policy
- Do cooperate with club owners and
police and if any problem looks like it may involve legal
issues, contact Elise immediately
Don’ts:
- Do not have any illegal drugs or
paraphernalia on your person, in your possession, or in your
personal items during your shift
- Do not advocate illegal drug use or
endorse a certain type of pill or drug and NEVER say a pill
is "good"
- Do not give out medication of any
kind, including aspirin
- Do not promise anyone we will work a
booth at their party, refer them to Elise or Pika
- Do not give out advice: we are here to
give info only!
Food:
- At some events, we will have healthy
snacks by donation. These include:
- Fruit Leather
- Orange Juice
- Granola Bars
- Milk
These are available to
anyone, but be sure to remind them that donations would be
fantastic to help recover costs.
Important things to remember:
- Keep customer service in mind-don’t
ignore the clients or spend too much time talking to your
friends
- Don’t leave fellow volunteers alone at
the booth for more than 10 minutes at a time
- Don’t offer to hold people’s bags or
coats behind the table (they could contain drugs and we are
not a coat check)
- If you don’t know the answer to a
question, have them write down their question and email
address so we can research the answer and get back to them
- Always wear your volunteer badge
during your shift
